Going west rather than east, you can travel to Grants Pass, then down to Crescent City, California, for a stroll through the Redwoods National Park If caving interest you, Oregon Caves is just a short drive off the road so you can combine a visit to it with your trip to Redwood Park. A quick trip north from the park will allow you to enjoy the southern part of the Oregon Coast. Closer to Ashland, both the Rogue and Klamath rivers provide excellent fishing as well as whitewater rafting.
