EVENTS AT NIGHTINGALES

Ashland Mystery Festival October 17th – 20th. Hosted by the Queen of Cozy Mysteries, Ellie Alexander, this is an interactive event that promises a weekend full of mystery fun. (Venues at Nightingales and across the city.)

Attend a book launch party with authors at Nightingales, Will Astrike and Pam Dehnke, date TBA. Will is the author of a western series featuring Texas Ranger Frank Bass. Pam has two mystery series; Sorority Sisters is set in 1941 at Michigan University, and The Court Reporter Always Gets the Last Word is set in Santa Monica, California, in 1996. Oregon Shakespeare Festival

This world-famous festival runs from mid-February through early November, offering world-class theatrical performance in three incredible theatres, which run afternoon and evening performances seven days a week throughout the season. Take a Campus Tour, previously Backstage Tours, with a Tudor Guild member, who will regale you with the history and humorous anecdotes about each of the theatres. Contact the OSF Box Office for tickets.

Enjoy free concerts by the Ashland City Bank at the Butler Memorial Bandshell in Lithia Park on Thursday evenings at 7:00, with pre-concert music at 6:15.  A special Patriotic Concert will be offered on July 4th at noon.

If you prefer the natural world, you have many choices here, too. Crater Lake is a short two hours away, unless you stop of the Rogue Gorge to view the spectacular chasm along the way. Going west rather than east, you can travel to Grants Pass, then down to Crescent City, California, for a stroll through the Redwoods National Park If caving interest you, Oregon Caves is just a short drive off the road so you can combine a visit to it with your trip to Redwood Park. A quick trip north from the park will allow you to enjoy the southern part of the Oregon Coast. Closer to Ashland, both the Rogue and Klamath rivers provide excellent fishing as well as whitewater rafting.
